[NEW PRODUCTS]Femme noir, toned-down pink and other fall makeup trends

Think romance or mod. From gold shimmer to red lipstick, makeup colors this autumn create a feminine and ultimately glamorous image. Here are the latest trends.

Yves Saint Laurent revives the glamorous beauty of 1980. One of the most classic items is red lipstick. In order to create an eye shadow to go with the lipstick, Yves Saint Laurent released Ombre Solo last month. The line evokes satin, velvet and chiffon. The micro-fibres in the formula ensure smooth application and hours of colors. It comes in matte, satiny and metallic finishes. Cost is 33,000 won ($29).

At Helena Rubinstein, pink is a surprisingly popular autumn color. Pink is usually big in spring, a Helene Rubinstein makeup artist acknowledges, but this season’s toned-down pink reflects current fashion trends. “Flower and ribbons are in, which means makeup cannot be heavy.”
There’s also no need to put your summer lip gloss away. Lips are glossy with hints of pearl, particularly in red, pink and chocolate brown. The combination of Ritual Rouge Brilliant lipstick with Stellar Gloss creates a three-dimensional pucker effect. The lipstick, 31,000 won, is made of ultralight and fine waxes and color fixing polymers. The gloss, 26,000 won, has a moisturizing and glossy formula.

Femme noir reigns at Mac. “The look can be dramatic, so we also advice clients to highlight one area of the face,” one makeup artist said. For October, the look has gone to what the company calls “Go Lightly.” This femme fatale enhances her appearance with pearl. The latest eye shadows, foundation and press powder have a slight pearl shine. Iridescent Powder costs 32,000 won. In eye shadows, look for classic metallic tones like Idol Eyes and Honey Lust. Cost is 18,000 won.
Clinique emphasizes smoky eyes, particularly in brown, gold or khaki tones. Popular colors this autumn are Cool Satin and Toast of Town. Both are from the High Impact Eyeshadow Quadro line, which combines four colors in one case. Cost is 36,000.
On lips, colors to look for are Raspberry Poppy and Wild Berry in the Color Surge lipstick line. Cost is 24,000.

After doing the makeup for some of the fall backstage fashion shows, Stila makeup artists say grey, cocoa and purple shades are in. They’ve released a three-pan compact. One color is a shimmery eye shadow base, one is an eyeliner for a dramatic effect and the third is a cheek color. The pans are removable so you can add to other Stila pan compacts. Sheer cheeks and fresh lips keep the look modern and clean. Cost is 52,000 won.

After the success of the Water Shine Diamond line, Maybelline has come out with the Pure Gold Collection for autumn. Peach and brown tones are returning as popular eye shadow colors. The updated brown has a gold iridescence in a cream base. New lipsicks in the Water Shine Diamonds line match the gold tones with colors Golden Sweet Peach and Golden Smashing Pumpkin. Cost is 12,000 won.
