[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]No jihadists at Madaris
The activities of Madari religious schools in Pakistan have generally been misreported and misunderstood. Eight thousand Madaris are registered with the government, and the Ministry of Education sent a questionnaire to them in 2001. There were replies from 1,200. It has been proposed that English, mathematics, Pakistan studies/social studies and general science will be taught as additional subjects in 4,000 primary level Madaris.No anti-western Jihadist massages are a part of the teachings at Madaris.
