[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Dog owners should be considerate

The number of households with pets in Korea has risen recently. I have been raising a Yorkshire terrier for a year. I realized that there are many things pet owners should be aware of.
First, pet owners must take bags with them to collect their dogs’ droppings when they take their dogs for walks. I have seen many people who do not do this, and the smell of uncollected dog dropping makes other people unpleasant.
Secondly, dog owners should always put a leash on their dogs when they take them for a walk, as dogs can bother other people and damage flowers and trees in the parks if they are not controlled.
Thirdly, dog owners should take care that their dogs’ barking does not disturb their neighbors.
Dogs may be very precious pets to their owners, but they are just animals to other people. Dog owners should understand this point. I ask pet owners to make efforts to establish a good pet-raising culture in Korea.
