[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Restitution needed for those former secret agents

An Oct. 27 article, “Secret Agents in Revolt,” spoke of secret agents who once belonged to the Higher Intelligence Unit and wanted revenge on their own government.
The truth has revealed itself from the dark hidden past of these former agents’ lives. Why didn’t they ever speak about it until now? Well, the real reason for this situation has now been disclosed to the world.
After many of these unfortunate agents received the same letter offering an inordinate amount of money in return for their forfeiting any right to legal action, they became angry after not getting any money.
The government does not have the right to ensnare these innocent men in traps. After working for many years in the Higher Intelligence Unit, and retiring, many have become mentally ill. This affects their surroundings and, most importantly, their families.
These agents deserve to have their financial and mental needs met. They deserve their demand for recognition for their role in modern Korean history. It is payback time for sure. And the government had better get ready for these former agents’ long-time revenge.
