[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Some oil facts in error

Your article on oil under the heading “Oil seen as essential element in U.S. power” in your Oct. 24 issue was quite interesting but contains many errors of fact. I live on Galveston Island and neither Halliburton nor other oil companies have refining facilities on the island.
Also, the oil tanker named after Condoleezza Rice was named several years prior to her taking the position as national security adviser. Prior to her current position, she was a member of the board of directors of Exxon and worked at Stanford University.
I was a civilian employee of U.S. Forces Korea at Yongsan from 1979 to 1986.
