[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Recycle your garbage as well as trash

According to a report from the National Institute of Environmental Research, South Korea produced more than 100 million metric tons of garbage last year.
Increasing trash has become a social problem we cannot ignore any longer.
If each household cares about it a little more, we can reduce a lot of trash churned out by our everyday activities.
Many households make kimchi for winter around this time of the year. Housewives don’t have to throw away the remainders of cabbages and radishes after making kimchi. They could dry the remainder and use it later as fertilizer for flowerpots and trees in a home garden, for instance.
We should rack our brains to reduce the amount of garbage originating in our homes.
This is the first step to protecting our environment. In the end, taxes have to cover the cost to deal with increasing trash.
Accordingly, all citizens should care more about this issue.
