[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Recycling is handled improperly
Published: 21 Dec. 2003, 23:42
I have lived in a new apartment complex one year. Despite the regulations, the practice of separating and collecting recyclables from waste materials are not being very well managed here.
The fault lies less with the residents than with the company contracted to collects the waste.
Every recyclable products is marked with green recyclable signs. The signs include numbers and the recyclables should be classified according to the numbers.
But the company ignores the numbers and classifies and collects the recyclables according to its own standards.
Sometimes, furthermore, the company does not collect certain things, like wrapping paper marked with the recyclable signs.
Separating the recyclables from waste and using the recyclables effectively is a task not only for us but also for the nation’s following generations.
I sincerely hope that the practice will be well-managed in the future.
