[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]No excuse for slaying of children

Two children were killed by their father, who refused to be a human being. I was shocked, frustrated and speechless at the news that a father dropped his two children into the Han River to their deaths. It was really spiteful of him to beg pardon from the dead children when he reenacted his unforgivable crime to the police. I think this crime took place because parents regard their offspring as their own possessions.
Children will confront harsh reality when parents cannot break through difficulties. Children have the right to be treated as independent human beings, not as parents’ belongings. In any case, taking the lives of children who don’t have judgement, even by parents, cannot be justified.
