[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Shallow treatment

I was very disappointed by the article titled “Give me ‘Sex’ reruns over homely drama” in your Jan. 28 edition. The article was essentially the cantankerous griping of an unsatisfied customer more than a good critique of Korean television. I would ask that you filter the information you provide to avoid printing overt personal opinions better suited to an Internet blog.
The writer chose a great topic by introducing the two shows: “Sex and the City” on cable TV and “Match Made in Heaven” on terrestrial TV. Readers would have been better served had the writer chosen to explore the impact of such shows on female sexuality or discuss the different economics of pay and free TV.
Readers would be more interested in the opinions of industry insiders while the journalist maintained a certain sense of objectivity with limited personal commentary. You should also keep in mind the for-profit limitations of television.
