One factor never mentioned in the article, “Thinking about the U.S. realignment” (Jan. 27), is that the 2d Infantry Division troops are currently in range of artillery bombardment.
Given that the U.S. tanks are extremely mobile and difficult to knock out without a being hit by direct artillery round, it makes sense to redeploy the US troops out of range of North Korean artillery to be used as a strategic reserve.
