[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Unusable passport photos

I needed a few photos for a passport, so I went to a photo machine in a subway station. Photography studios charge a lot for pictures, so I thought I was saving both time and money. I went to apply for the passport, but was told that my photo was not appropriate, although it was the right size.
I didn’t know that I couldn’t use photos from an automatic machine, since it said that the photos could be used for passports. I thought it was ridiculous that I had to have my picture taken at a studio. A lot of travelers must use the machines. Do they have to waste more time and money to have their picture taken again?
The authorities should either accept the photos, or erase the instructions on the machines that say they provide passport photos.
