[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Upset at the photo shoot

I read the article on Lee Seung-yeon, the former Miss Korea and actress who posed for a series of provocative photographs showing herself as a comfort woman.
Koreans are very sensitive to issues involving Japan, and they have grown even more sensitive recently because of Japanese claims to the islet of Tokdo. I cannot understand why the actress would try to commercialize such a painful subject.
The actress never attended any of the rallies that the former comfort women have held against the Japanese government. She never gave to their cause. It is disgusting that she should choose such a sensitive subject just to differentiate her nude photographs from those of other Korean actresses. There is a very thin line between art and obscenity.
The actress is not the only one to blame. The production company should also take responsibility for selecting a theme that would become a social issue, whether it be positive or negative. Internet users should never be fooled by this kind of “free” marketing strategy.
