[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]How to stop bullying

The bullying problem in schools is getting worse. Educational authorities have failed to produce effective measures to stop the problem, and the schools where bullying takes place are remain silent, fearing that their cases will be made public. I think a systemic plan to stop bullying is urgently needed.
First, those who bully others should be punished. Their acts should be recorded in their school documents so that it penalizes them when they try to go to advanced schools.
Second, schools should be able to provide a special kind of program for the bully’s parents so that a proper upbringing can take place both in schools and homes.
Third, I suggest a council of parents, teachers and police officers be institutionalized in each school. So far, schools have dealt with bullying behind closed doors, which makes the problem even worse. A council would actively help stop bullying.
