[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Stop the teachers’ unions
The hearing on improving the personnel system for teachers, scheduled for April 23, was called off because of complaints from some teacher groups, like the Korean Teacher’s Educational Union. The complaints of parents have picked up in recent days as teacher unions have gone against any reforms that aren’t in their favor. The delays in reform have also led to a delay in government plans for the education sector, bringing huge losses in the educational budget.
As a result, private educational institutes have benefited enormously.
If unions only want reforms in the sector focused on maintaining the current status of teachers, the unions will inevitably meet their doom and the Ministry of Education has no reason for existing.
