[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Demonstrating integrity
Published: 09 May. 2004, 22:21
I am a 64-year-old fifth-generation Irish American who served four years in the U.S. Air Force. I read your May 6 article on Pat Tillman, a National Football League player, who didn’t sign a multimillion dollar deal with the Arizona Cardinals but instead joined the U.S. Army Rangers, and who died in action in Afghanistan. I might add that I work for the Los Angeles branch of a major Korean bank.
Pat Tillman is an example of what is right about the United States. The sad part is his greatness does not receive the full attention it should in the United States, and, in some quarters, is denigrated.
The other sad thing is that he will not have children who would be raised with the same ethics, integrity and responsibility he demonstrated in his own short life.
