[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Egyptian media condemn ‘cowardly killing’ of Kim

The immediate strong condemnation of the Government of Egypt for the killing of the Korean national Mr. Kim Sun-il in Iraq by a terrorist group has been equally shared by the people and media in Egypt.
Ahmed Bahgat, a leading Egyptian intellectual and columnist, dedicated his article of June 25, 2004, in Al-Ahram newspaper, the most prestigious in Egypt with a readership of over 40 million, to condemn strongly the cowardly killing of Mr. Kim in Iraq. Mr. Bahgat described the atrocities committed by the terrorists as criminal and randomly directed against innocent civilians, irrespective of their nationality or religious beliefs.
In this regard, Amr Helmy, the ambassador of Egypt to Korea, expresses his most sincere condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Korea and to the family of Mr. Kim.
