[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Romance needs reality
Published: 08 Jul. 2004, 22:55
Thank you for the article you wrote on the current drama “Lovers in Paris.” I’ve only watched about 10 minutes of it, yet it seemed to be going down the same path as most of the other dramas on television: A woman’s life is not complete without a man.
Your article really put into words what is wrong with the concepts that many television dramas convey, the idea that women will be saved by a Prince Charming just by sitting around and twiddling their thumbs. Sure, there’s romance in the world, but let it be on equal footing where both the man and the woman have something positive and effective to bring to the relationship.
