Short films starring at festivals

Be on the lookout for a series of short-film festivals in the coming months.
In the first week of October, film buffs can download and watch for free online movies at the Internet portal Daum as part of the Daum Short Film Festival, which features films by five noted directors.
From Oct. 4, Kim Sung-su will show “Back,” an action movie starring Ryu Seum-beom from “Arahan.” Also featured are Jang Jun-hwan’s fantasy drama “Hair,” Kim Dong-bin’s “Red Eye,” Heo Jin-ho’s “My New Boyfriend” and “The Joy of Love” by Lee Je-yong, the director of “Untold Scandal.”
In late October, CJ Entertainment presents the CJ Asia Independent Film Festival, which has 30 independent shorts by Asian directors that are not easily available in local cinemas. From Oct. 20 to 24, the films will be screened at popular theaters in Seoul, including CGV Yongsan and Gangbyeon.
The same company is also organizing the Seoul Independent Film Festival to be held in December at CGV Yongsan. The lineup will include five independent movies from the Pusan International Film Festival.
