[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Better to say ‘South’

Ian Choe’s column “An Oasis in a Desert of Ignorance” (JoongAng Daily, March 18) was the whiniest contribution to the “Another View” section I think I have ever read. Far from being peeved by the “ignorant” questions about South Korea put to him by Americans in the United States, he should be happy that they’re even bothering to ask and see it as a golden opportunity to educate these individuals about his mother land. If he is so irritated when asked if he is from the North or the South, he can state more clearly at the outset that he is from “South Korea,” rather than just saying “Korea” as he did repeatedly in his column. I do not think that “Korea” automatically means “South Korea.”
