[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Time to stop digging

It is time for President Roh Moo-hyun to stop looking for the pony. For those who are unfamiliar with this story, it concerns a boy whose only want in life is a pony. He is promised one by a malevolent benefactor; of course, the child must earn it, and he dutifully completes the benefactor’s request.
However, instead of giving him the pony, the benefactor brings the boy a very large load of horse manure. He tells the boy that since this came from the pony, it must be hiding in there someplace.
The boy digs in. When he complains that he can’t find the pony, the benefactor makes him do another task, and brings him an even larger load of manure to dig through.
One has to wonder how long President Roh and his government will keep digging before they finally realize that the dictator to the north will never give him his precious pony.
