[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Privatize educationKim Jin-sung’s column “A false religion in the schools” (June 30) deserves praise. Currently, the danger facing Korea’s education system is at its peak. Since the reforms of this year, many students have committed suicide. Moreover, if Korea spends so much on private education, what is the point of standardization of schools?
The Korean government should immediately realize the importance of students’ individuality and, instead, privatize Korean education for the sake of higher standards. A few of Japan’s big businesses have invested to create a Japanese version of the Ethan school, in order to produce more talented graduates. Now is the time for the Korean education system’s reformation.
