[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Bush’s tailored data

The Bush administration is said to have been tailoring scientific information to suit its policy agenda. In 2002 and 2003, the White House censored reports on the risks of climate change, and instructed a government climatologist not to publicly discuss the human contribution to global warming.
While global warming is being recognized by the rest of the world as a pre-eminent threat to the entire human race, the United States remains the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases. Even during the recent effort at the G-8 summit to promote international cooperation to retard climate change, Washington refused to comply. The United States’ unliateralism and inaction on global warming will do no more than further isolate it from the international community.
