Make a bid for whiskey, charitably

Seoul International Women’s Association will hold a fund-raising auction at the Grand Hilton Hotel in northern Seoul at 7 p.m. today.
The event will be conducted as a silent auction, in which bidders submit offers written down on a piece of paper, with the highest offer winning.
The event will raise money to help orphanages and rest houses for the elderly in Korea, said Wendy Cornell, the president of the association. “I hope many people will participate in the auction,” she added.
Among the items up for bid will be a Johnnie Walker Blue Label 1805 Anniversary Pack, one of which sold in England for 10,000 pounds ($17,000). Also up for auction will be earrings by Tiffany and a gift certificate for a free otolaryngology operation, which cures chronic snoring.
The price of entry is 60,000 won ($57). For more information, visit
