[LETTERS to the editor]Spring is located near Lotte World
In early January I read an article about how young Korean backpackers are doing away with tour groups and going out on their own. (I looked it up in your archives; it’s called “Backpackers seek more tailored travel: Gone are the tour groups as young Koreans get intrepid.’ Jan. 06, 2006).Then, again on Jan. 23 there’s another article about how young Korean backpackers are doing away with “whirlwind tours” and signing up for adventurous “theme travel packages” in greater numbers than ever before.
So, which is it? More tour groups, or fewer tour groups? While there’s indeed a slight difference between the two reports, does the average reader really need to read into this twice in one month?
Even in the case of photos, I’m also seeing double. This Wednesday, you featured a cover photo of hikers in a snowy forest, with the line: “A long way until spring.” Then, on page 3, there’s a shot of people looking at azaleas at Lotte World, with the line “Almost spring.” Which is it?
