[LETTERS to the editor]Ill-informed criticism is narrow-minded

There is no doubt that North Korean people are suffering from the infringement of their human rights. However, the biased view of the special envoy on human rights in North Korea, Mr. Lefkowitz, on these issues without proper understanding is regrettable. The South Korean government has indeed intensified its monitoring in providing aid to the North. However, Mr. Lefkowitz’s judgment on the monitoring issue with his own criteria has itself denied humanitarian assistance to the North under the pretext of lack of monitoring. Also, he did not consider North Korea’s economic level. Workers in Kaesong receive more money than workers in other regions of the North. It is a unilateral and narrow-minded thinking as well as anti-humanitarian and inhumane to talk about North Korean human rights issue in such a way.
