우리보다 앞서 나 홀로 인구가 확산된 일본에선 혼자 밥 먹는 일이 그야말로 다반사다. ‘고식(孤食)’이라는 용어까지 있다. 우리도 1인 가구 300만 시대를 맞아 고식족이 급증 일로다. 밥뿐만이 아니다. 자유분방하고 지갑 두둑한 싱글족은 해외에 놀러 나가고 명품 쇼핑하고 뮤지컬 보러 다니는 주력 소비층으로 떠올랐다. ‘싱글족 마케팅’이 업계 화두다. 이제 젊은 독신들은 ‘골드 미스’다 ‘화려한 싱글’이다 해서 선망을 받기도 한다.
