ⓐ into a half into two ‘into’는 변화를 나타낼 때 쓰는 전치사이므로 into a half는 하나가 반이 되었다는 의미이므로 부적절. ‘하나가 둘이 되었다’는 표현으로 수정. 참고로 half를 사용하려면 ‘into halves’로 수정해야 함
ⓑ depart the husband leave her husband ‘어떠한 대상을 떠나다’라는 표현에 적합한 어휘인 leave로 수정. 참고로 depart는 ‘어떠한 지역에서 출발하다’라는 의미로 사용됨. the husband 보다 her husband가 자연스러움
ⓒ 특정 보름날을 의미하는 것이 아니므로 the 삭제
ⓓ They Then they 문장의 시간적 흐름을 명확히 표현해주기 위해 then 삽입

장안에 끌려간 진정은 수 왕실의 친족이자 대장군이었던 양소의 첩이 된다. 처음 맞이하는 대보름. 그녀는 하인을 저잣거리에 내보내 반쪽짜리 거울을 판다. 아주 높은 가격을 부르게 해 이를 사려는 사람은 없었다. 물론 거울 한쪽을 찾으려 했던 것이다. 그 보름이 지나고, 이듬해 보름도 그냥 넘어간다. “남편이 나를 잊은 것은 아닐까”라는 독백이 그녀의 입에서 흘러나왔을 법하다.

After involuntarily being sent to Zhangan, Jin Jong became a mistress of one of the royals in Sui ⓐand a renowned general. On the first Full Moon Day after the tearful separation, Jin sent her maid to the street ⓑand sold the halved mirror. The princess intentionally tagged it ⓒan absurdly high price and nobody bid to buy it. Surely she meant to find ⓓanother half of the mirror. The next Full Moon Day ⓔwas also gone by without ⓕan event.

ⓐ a renowed general이 Sui를 동격으로 수식해주고 있으므로 and 삭제 후 콤마(,)로 연결해 줌. 참고로 and는 ‘boys and girls’와 같이 범주가 같은 대등한 구조를 연결할 때 사용함
ⓑ and sold to sell 유기적인 문장을 만들기 위해 and를 to로 수정. and를 사용하면 sent와 sold가 연결되어 Jin이 거울을 판다는 의미가 되어 버림.
ⓒ an absurdly high price with an absurdly high price ‘높은 가격으로’의 의미이므로, 앞의 it과 연결해주기 위해서는 전치사 with이 필요
ⓓ another the other 두 개 중 정해진 나머지 한 개를 가리킬 때에는 정관사 the와 함께 other를 사용. 정해지지 않은 ‘또 다른 하나’는 another 사용. 참고로 another는 an + other가 합쳐진 단어임
ⓔ was also gone also went 수동태를 능동태로 수정. 시간이 지나갔음을 나타낼 때에는 자동사 go 사용
ⓕ an event a sale 문맥상 ‘아무런 사건이 없이 넘어갔다’기 보다는 ‘거울이 팔리지 않고’로 표현해주는 것이 더 정확하므로 a sale로 수정
