그 영향이 일본에까지 미친 것일까. 99년 아사히 신문은 정치면에 “일본 정부가 정계의 심각한 인재난을 해소하는 긴급 대책으로 외국인도 각료로 임명할 수 있도록 하는 ‘각료 빅뱅 법안’을 국회에 제출키로 했다”는 기사를 실었다. 한국 TV들은 이를 아침 뉴스로 소개하는 해프닝을 벌이기도 했다. 1면의 기사 안내 “오늘은 만우절, 가공의 기사가 하나 있으니 알아맞혀 보세요”를 미처 보지 못한 탓이다.
