Epic moment for Korean swimmer
Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan celebrates after winning the gold in the men’s 400-meter freestyle race at the Beijing Olympics on Aug. 10. It was Korea’s first Olympic swimming medal of any kind and its third gold in Beijing. He is the first Asian to win any Olympic freestyle swimming event since Noboru Terada of Japan won gold in the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. [YONHAP]
한국 수영선수 박태환이 8월10일 베이징 올림픽 남자 400미터 자유형에서 금메달을 딴 뒤 기뻐하고 있다. 올림픽 역사상 한국이 수영종목에서 메달을 획득한 것은 이번이 처음이다. 이번 베이징 올림픽에서는 한국의 세 번째 금메달이다. 1936년 베를린 올림픽 남자 1500미터 자유형에서 일본의 테라다 노보루가 딴 금메달 이후 아시아인으로는 처음으로 올림픽 자유형 수영종목에서 처음으로 우승한 것이다. [연합]
