[LETTERS to the editor]Fans of Korea, not sports

For sports fan living in Korea [coverage of international sporting events] can be disappointing. I have not been able to see a single men’s Olympic basketball game because Korea’s team did not qualify.

Even the men’s baseball match between the United States and Cuba, which would determine who Korea would face in the finals, was not televised.

If the marathon was televised, I assume it was because there was a Korean athlete participating. But watching a marathon is like watching grass grow - it is not a major spectator sport. I’m not sure who is in charge of programming at KBS, SBS or MBC, but he or she is definitely not a sports fan.

Thankfully, Korea does excel at several sports. I’ve enjoyed watching archery, swimming, weightlifting, and baseball.

Are there any sports fans in Korea or is everyone just a fan of Korea?
