Walking festival in downtown Seoul

Walkers throng a bank of Cheonggye Stream on Sept. 28 during the 2008 Hi Seoul World Walking Festival organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and supported by the JoongAng Ilbo and the JoongAng Daily. Around 12,000 people strolled the 10-kilometer route from Seoul Plaza through Cheonggye Stream, Mount Namsan and Sungnyemun in downtown Seoul. The walking event was held in nine cities in Korea on the day and 70 countries across the world. By Kang Jung-hyun

2008 하이 서울 국제걷기대회에 참가한 시민들이 9월 28일 청계천변을 가득 메우고 있다. 서울시가 주최하고 중앙일보와 중앙데일리가 후원한 걷기대회에 시민 1만2천 여명이 참석해 서울광장, 청계천, 남산, 숭례문을 경유하는 10킬로미터 코스를 걸었다. 이날 국제걷기대회는 한국에서 9개 도시에서, 전세계적으로 70개 국가에 서 열렸다. 강정현 기자
