There is no better season than autumn to immerse yourself in some soul-searching. A cup of coffee, a good book - everything becomes quite picturesque against the backdrop of blue skies and colorful foliage.

“Melancholie” is just the album you need in a season like this.

The latest album by British composer, producer and recording artist Michael Hoppe delivers 12 songs (excluding the bonus track) that will take you on a romantic, restful journey - be it to the best moment from your past or your favorite place in the world.

With your eyes closed, track one, “Prairie Moon,” conjures up images of a wide, green prairie and the fresh scent of green grass, a breath of fresh air and a beautiful full moon.

Track seven, “Verdiana (cello version)” and track 10 “Verdiana (violin version)” are my favorites.

The lyrical tunes, drawn-out notes and beautiful harmonies touch the heart.

The last track “Coming Home,” to me, is the perfect finale. As suggested in its title, it gives you a sense of serenity, a feeling that everything is in its rightful place.
