막장드라마
SBS TV 일일드라마 ‘아내의 유혹’. 몽테크리스토 백작이 울고 갈 황당무계한 이야기지만 요즘 이 드라마를 모르면 주부들 사이에선 대화가 힘들다. 이 작품의 성공에 힘입어 소위 ‘막장 드라마’들이 안방극장을 장악하고 있다. 채널을 돌려도 소용이 없다. 등장인물의 내면묘사나 정교한 내러티브는 모두 뒷전, 비정상적인 인물과 개연성을 무시한 사건 진행이 드라마마다 넘쳐난다.내가 한 영작

ⓒ are ruling → have taken over 현재 방영되고 있는 드라마가 이전부터 계속 인기를 끌고 있다는 의미이므로 현재완료 시제를 사용하여 자연스러운 표현으로 수정. 참고로 현재진행형은 순일시적인 상황을 나타낼 때 사용됨

사람들이 생각 없이 즐길 수 있는 막장성에 의존하는 것은 아무래도 불황의 영향일 듯하다. 뉴욕 브로드웨이에서도 경기침체 탓으로 대형 뮤지컬들이 잇따라 막을 내리고, 스트립쇼 위주의 오락 공연 벌레스크(burlesque)가 거의 100년 만에 다시 전성기를 맞고 있다는 소식이다. 한국도 세계의 첨단 조류인 ‘대중문화 퇴행’에 동참하고 있다는 걸 위안으로 삼아야 할까.
