A new security landscape

North Korea’s rocket launch has shifted the security landscape on the Korean Peninsula,/ because we must accept the reality/ that it is capable of launching intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Whether it succeeded is still in doubt.

North Korea’s armaments are rapidly strengthening for an asymmetrical war.

The reaction of the South Korean people to the provocative acts by North Korea/ over the more than six decades/ since the tragedy of national division/ has been confused,/ swinging wildly between numbness and hypersensitivity and/ caught up in the ideological divisions of Korean society.
③ 남한국민들의 북한의 도발적 행위들에 대한 반응(안보의식)은/ ② 60년 이상에 걸쳐/ ① 남북분단 이래/ ⑤ 혼란스러워 졌으며/ ④ 불감증과 과민증 사이를 심하게 오가면서/ ⑥ 우리 사회의 이데올로기적 분열에 말려들어 왔던 것이다.

The Korean government and civil society should make concerted efforts/ to gain a precise perception of our security situation and/ prevent public opinion from disrupting national policy.
