공자가 길을 물었다. 열국을 돌며 유세하느라 고생을 거듭하다가 지나던 어느 곳에서다. 밭을 갈던 은자(隱者) 장저와 걸닉을 발견한 공자는 “나루가 어디인지 물어보고 오라”며 제자 자로(子路)를 보냈다. “저 수레에 타고 있는 사람이 공자 맞느냐”고 운을 뗀 두 은자는 “공자가 맞다면 나루가 어디인지를 스스로 알 터인데 왜 묻느냐”며 자로를 돌려보낸다.

ⓑ thinker → philosopher 철학자를 나타내는 ‘philosopher’로 수정. 참고로 ‘thinker’는 ‘사상가나 사색가’를 나타냄
ⓒ arrived to → arrived at ‘~에 도착하다’라는 표현에는 ‘arrive at~’ 사용
