Ever wondered what Korean vehicle was the longest, heaviest or most expensive?

A study by EnClean.com, a SK Energy portal site, has the answers. EnClean.com collects data on 1,200 imported and domestic models.

GM Daewoo’s Veritas turned out to have the longest body among the 37 models now being produced by Korean automakers, according to the Web site’s report, which excluded buses and large trucks.

The Veritas is 5,195 millimeters long, longer than Hyundai Motor’s recently introduced Equus, at 5,160 millimeters. Hyundai calls the Equus Korea’s most luxurious sedan and claims it can compete with foreign peers. In Korea, its body is relatively average in length.

But Korea’s longest vehicle is downright diminuitive when compared to other foreign competitors. Mercedes-Benz’s S500 is 5,210 millimeters long while BMW’s 750Li measures 5,212 millimeters.

The shortest Korean vehicle was the GM Daewoo manual-transmission two-seat Matiz van, which was 3,495 millimeters long.

In terms of weight, the heaviest Korean vehicle was Ssangyong Motor’s 11-passenger Rodius 4WD, which weighed 2,230 kilograms (4,916 pounds).

The two-seat Matiz van also ranked first as the lightest vehicle, only weighing 795 kilograms.

By fuel economy, excluding recently released hybrids, Hyundai’s manual-transmission Avante HD diesel, which features an engine capacity of 1600 cc, topped the list at 21 kilometers per liter (49 miles per gallon).

The vehicle with the worst fuel economy came from Hyundai’s affiliate Kia Motors. Kia’s automatic-transmission Mohave V8 4.6 Gasoline 4WD KV460 runs just 7.3 kilometers on a single liter of fuel. Concidentally, the Mohave V8 4.6 Gasoline 4WD also had the largest engine capacity among Korean vehicles, in a tie with Hyundai’s Equus VS460 Prestige.

The engine capacity of both the sports-utility vehicle and the luxury sedan is 4627 cc.

GM Daewoo’s Matiz van once again took the slimmer side of the chart, with the smallest engine capacity at 796cc.

There was one perhaps dubious area where Hyundai Motor took top honors - price. The new Equus turned out to be the most expensive vehicle among the 37 in the survey.

An Equus VS460 Prestige with an automatic transmission sells at retail for 105.2 million won ($81,635). For that price one could buy 17 manual-transmission GM Daewoo Matiz van two-seaters, which sell for 6.38 million won each, making them the cheapest in the report.

Overall GM Daewoo’s compact vehicle is not only the cheapest but also the smallest and lightest with the smallest engine capacity among the 37 models.
