[Letters] Clinton’s stand for women

Hillary Rodham Clinton, the U.S. secretary of state, visited Africa recently in an effort to listen to the voices of the often unheard: the impoverished, uneducated and female. Clinton stated in her confirmation hearing that she would put women’s issues at the core of American foreign policy. However, Americans themselves do not recognize her strong willingness to empower women around the world.

Hillary Clinton certainly is a significant role model for girls in that she is passionate, self-motivated and determined. Moreover, I respect her because I hope to become a person who is able to use her abilities to bring about change in the world. It’s a time to consider what Clinton has to say and together pursue a common goal of humankind: empowering women.
