Two events that highlight the cultural connections between Korea and Scandinavian countries will be presented in Seoul this week.

The first is an exhibition of Swedish art and design titled “Swedish Footprints,” which opened last Wednesday and will run through Nov. 7 at the Korea Foundation Cultural Center’s Nuri Gallery.

The exhibition displays about 60 works by 13 Swedish and Korean artists who have connections with one another’s countries. Participating Korean artists have either received their education in Sweden or are currently active in the Scandinavian country, while participating Swedish artists say they have been inspired by Korea and its culture. The exhibition is part of the Swedish Embassy’s year-long celebration marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Korea.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian Embassy in Seoul will present a concert featuring Norwegian folk singer Unni Løvlid, Norwegian percussionist Terje Isungset and daegeum (traditional Korean bamboo flute) player Shin Kyung-ho. The concert is part of the ongoing World Festival of National Theatres 2009 in Seoul and will be presented at the National Theater of Korea tomorrow at 8 p.m.
