New flu takes 12 more lives

Twelve more people have died in Korea from A(H1N1) flu, raising the country’s total death toll from the new flu to 64, health authorities said yesterday.

A 6-year-old boy and two women, aged 39 and 56, died after being diagnosed with the virus, officials from the central disaster relief headquarters said. None of the three were classified in the high-risk category.

Nine others, including an 18-year-old female who had a previous illness, were classified as high-risk patients. Out of the 64 who died from new flu, 53 patients were classified as high-risk and 11 others were not, officials said.
