Like its heartthrob Edward Cullen, the soundtrack of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” is equal parts doleful and dreamy.

Laced with indie rock offerings that range from the wildly popular Death Cab for Cutie to the unknown Swedish chanteuse Lykke Li, the album moves at an artful, listless pace, almost as if to shrug off the rabid mania surrounding its release.

Hm, now that I mention it, that sounds a bit like sullen leading lady Kristen Stewart, whom The New York Times has dubbed Twilight’s “Reluctant Star”.?.?.

Although the film isn’t out here yet (that happens Wednesday!), the soundtrack is evocative of everything I expect it to be: Band of Skulls’ too-cool-for-school “Friends” just has to be about the Cullens (“Yeah, my friends they are so beautiful”) and Editors’ “No Sound But the Wind” is just as lovelorn as I expect Bella to be when Edward leaves her.

Granted, with all the hype, it’s easy to abhor all things Twilight. But even if you do, the soundtrack is still worth a solid listen. By Hannah Bae
