Little Ashes (18)

In 1922, at 18 years old, Salvador Dali, (Robert Pattinson) arrives at a university in Madrid and is determined to become a great artist. Madrid is on the verge of change, waging a battle between traditional values and the entry of outside influences such as jazz, Freud and the avant-garde movement.

Dali soon catches the attention of poet Federico Garcia Lorca (Javier Beltran) and aspiring filmmaker Luis Bunuel (Matthew McNulty) and together the three form an ultra-modern group of thinkers. As time goes by, Dali finds himself becoming more drawn to Garcia Lorca, who is unaware of the advances being made by his devoted friend and writer Magdalena (Marina Gatell).

When Bunuel becomes increasingly isolated by the duo’s closeness, he decides to move to Paris to fulfill his own artistic ambitions. Dali and Garcia Lorca go to the seaside village of Cadaques, the home of Dali’s family, and find themselves growing closer to each other.



Lady Daddy (12)

Actress Lee Na-young defies her femininity and pretty face to take on the role of a clumsy and soft-hearted dad-complete with a necktie and mustache. Her character, who has just had a sex change, is Ji-hyeon, a photographer whose picture-perfect life is disrupted with the sudden arrival of a young boy, Yoo-bin (Kim Hee-soo), who claims to be her son, before her sex-change operation.

They live together for a week and Ji-hyeon tries to become the father Yoo-bin hadn’t had. Things start to get complicated when Ji-hyeon’s boyfriend, Joon-suh (Kim Ji-suk), starts to get suspicious.

This romantic comedy features a stellar cast that tackles the not-so-light topic of transgenders.



Astro Boy (G)

This animated film is loosely based on the long-running Japanese series by Osamu Tezuka, and features the voices of Kristen Bell, Nathan Lane, Eugene Levy, Matt Lucas, Bill Nighy, Donald Sutherland and Nicolas Cage.

The movie takes place in the futuristic world of Metro City, where a robot workforce performs all the tasks that humans no longer want to do. A mad, but brilliant scientist creates a young robot with amazing powers that is made to look like his lost son and act as his replacement. Instead the father realizes that the robot only reminds him of his son. Understanding this, the robot, Astro, leaves in search of acceptance but falls into a world of evil and robot gladiators. He’s faced with an even bigger challenge when an alien race threatens Earth and he must return to save Metro City.



Paranormal Activity (12)

Horror, Mystery, Thriller / 85 / English

A young, middle-class couple, Micah (Micah Sloat) and Katie (Katie Featherston) move into a suburban tract house and begin to notice strange things happening.

They feel that something is haunting them while they sleep, and then Katie reveals to Micah that she has been haunted since she was a child. Micah, who is skeptical of her story, buys a camera to document any paranormal activity during the night.

When Dr. Fredrichs, a psychic, visits them he tells them they are being plagued by a demon that feeds off negative energy and is intent on haunting Katie no matter where she goes, and he urges them not to communicate with the entity.

But Micah continues to videotape each night and manages to capture several phenomena, such as objects moving on their own, lights and televisions switching on and off, and sounds ranging from voices and growls to footsteps and loud thuds. As time goes by, Micah’s doubt begins to provoke the demonic spirits, putting the couple in a terrifying situation.



The Fair Love (12)

This film depicts the romance between Hyung-man (Ahn Sung-ki), a man in his 50s, and his friend’s 20-something daughter, a college student named Nam-eun (Lee Ha-na). Hyung-man has never dated and after he loses all of his money to his friend, he spends the rest of his mundane life in his photography studio.

For the last eight years Nam-eun has been on the run with her father, Ki-yeok, after he stole money from Hyeong-man. When Ki-yeok hears that his friend is dying of cancer, he pleads with Hyung-man to look after his daughter after he’s gone. When his friend passes away, Hyung-man keeps his promise and visits Nam-eun, who is now an adult, and slowly their quirks and oddities transform into an unlikely attraction.

Using Hyung-man’s laundry as an excuse, Nam-eun visits Hyung-man frequently and they begin to express their feelings for each other.
