ⓐ an animal spirit → animal instincts 동물적 감각은 영어로 “animal instinct”라고 하는 것이 가장 바람직하며 자연스러움.
ⓑ business → a business 명사 앞에 관사를 넣어주어야 하는데, 여기서는 정해지지 않은 어떤 사업을 말하므로 a를 넣어주는 것이 바람직.
ⓒ started → both started 앞에서 빌 게이츠와 워렌 버펫을 설명하는 말이 길어져 뒤에 동사가 나왔을 때 혼동을 줄 수 있음. 또는 둘 다 19세에 사업을 시작했다는 것을 강조하기 위해서 both을 써줄 수도 있음.
ⓓ LG, etc. → and LG 신문이나 논문 등 공식적인 문서에서는 불분명하게 끝에 etc.를 넣어 끝내지 않음. 공식적인 문서에서는 모든 문장 하나하나가 정확해야 하므로, 제대로 열거하지 않고 중간에 끝내는 etc는 알맞지 않음.
이성적·합리적으로 따진다면 사업은 돈·인맥·경험을 어느 정도 쌓은 중장년에 시작해야 할 것 같지만, 어느 나라든 대성한 사업가 중에는 그런 게 모자란 30세 이전에 창업한 이가 압도적으로 많다.

If we talk in terms of reason and rationality, it ⓐmay be plausible to say that it is better to start business at middle age or at the prime of life, having already accumulated money, human connections and experience. However, the overwhelming majority ⓑare those who achieved a great success, started ⓒa business before they turn to 30, ⓓalthough they lack in such requirements.

Writing Tip
ⓐ may be → is plausible이 ‘가능한’ 이란 의미를 가지고 있으므로, 앞에 may가 들어가면 의미가 중복이 됨. 그러므로 may는 빼고 be를 앞의 주어에 맞춰서 is로 바꿔줌.
ⓑ are those → of business leaders are those가 나오는 것은 문맥상 어색함. The overwhelming majority 다음에 are those를 빼고 바로 ,who achieved…… 문장이 나올 수 있음. 그리고 그 대다수의 사람들이 무엇을 뜻하는 지 정확하게 전달하기 위해 뒤에 of business leaders를 붙임.
ⓒ a business → out start a business는 앞에서 자주 쓰인 표현이므로 다양성을 주기 위해서 똑같은 뜻이 있는 start out을 써줌.
ⓓ although → even though although는 뭔가 좀더 확실성이 있는 내용을 다룰 때 쓴다. although 다음에는 항상 확실성이 있는 사실이 나오고, even though 다음에는 확실하지 않은 사실이 나옴. Proofreading을 한 사람과 영작을 한 사람의 의미전달의 차이를 보여줌.
