Starting this year, there will be no admission fees to the War Memorial of Korea, the war history museum located in Yongsan, central Seoul. According to the museum, the War Memorial decided not to receive fees for its permanent collections in order to “educate the importance of national security.” The museum hitherto collected 3,000 won ($2.58) from adults for entrance, 2,000 won from students and 1,000 won from children.
Celebrating the free entrance, the War Memorial of Korea will hold the “Peace Concert Together with Visitors” at 2 p.m. every Saturday this month. The concert’s musical performances will range from fusion concerto of gayageum (a Korean stringed instrument) and violin, to Latin pop, a cappella, children’s harmonica recitals and classical music. In addition, the museum has started its “Visitor Mileage” program in which it will give out special gifts to frequent visitors.
