Distinctive yet deadly

Name: Bronze Dagger
Period: Bronze Age
Location: National Museum of Korea
The dagger pictured above is a Liaoning-type dagger unearthed in Shincheon, Hwanghae Province in North Korea.
Liaoning-type daggers often feature a T-shape such as this. The etchings on the handle are what historians call thunder patterns.
There are two important things to note about this dagger: One is the smooth, natural curve of the blade. The other is that the blade and grip were made separately and assembled afterward. Historians say these points distinguish the techniques of the Korean bronze age from those of the Chinese age.
