ⓐ have → produce 말이 매일 11킬로그램의 배설물을 가지고 있다기 보다는 만들어 내는 것이므로 have보다는 produce가 알맞음.
ⓑ shit → dropping shit이란 말은 신문이나 문서에 쓰기에는 저속한 단어. dropping이나 waste를 쓰는 것이 적절함.
ⓒ area → areas 도시 지역이 하나가 아닌 여러 곳이므로 복수를 씀.
ⓓ 없음 → the 셀 수 있는 단어들 앞에는 정관사가 붙음. 물질명사나 추상명사에는 관사를 쓰지 않으나, 여기서 door는 구체적인 door이므로 정관사를 사용해야 함.
이후 거세진 소비자들의 압력과 관련법 제정으로 자동차의 안전성은 획기적으로 개선됐다. 그런데 최근 도요타에 이어 혼다·포드 등이 줄줄이 리콜에 나서며 불안감이 다시금 높아졌다. 전자장치가 늘며 언제든 결함이 나올 수 있다는데 정확히 뭐가 문제인지 모르니 더 두렵다.

ⓐ were → have Since then,은 ‘그 때 이후로’ 라는 뜻으로 어떤 과거 시점으로부터 현재까지를 연결하므로 현재완료시제를 써주는 것이 옳음.
ⓑ to recall → recalls start to는 요즘 잘 쓰이지 않는 표현. To recall은 좀더 역동적인, 움직이는 동사의 의미가 강한 반면, recalls는 어떤 현상이나 상태인 명사의 의미가 강함. 여기서는 명사로서의 의미를 강하게 나타냄.
ⓒ goes → go go up하는 주어는 3인칭 복수인 the chances이므로 동사는 원형을 씀.
ⓓ increase → increases increase하는 주어는 3인칭 단수인 the number이므로 동사 뒤에 s를 붙임. A number of는 ‘많은’이라는 a lot of와 같은 의미가 되므로 어떤 명사 앞에 a number of가 오게 되면 뒤에 동사는 원형으로 씀.
