Setting the pace

The Goyang International Marathon 2010 was held yesterday in the Gyeonggi city. The annual event, which is co-hosted by Goyang, the JoongAng Ilbo, Ilgan Sports and the Korea Association of Athletics Federation, is divided into the women’s half marathon, full 42.196-kilometer (26.2-mile) marathon, 10- and 5-kilometer courses.

This year’s race marks the fourth anniversary.

Until last year, the marathon was a festival only for club members, but this year it was upgraded to include the women’s half marathon. It is the first time in 2010 an international-level marathon event has been run in Korea.
