ITCCK - MOSCATO D’ASTI WINE

WORKSHOP

Today: This buffet and presentation held by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Korea puts the spotlight on the Piedmont region in Italy, a major zone for the production of moscato grapes, used to make Moscato Bianco wine. A presentation will be given by members of the Associazione Produttori Moscato, followed by a lunch buffet and tasting. The workshop will run from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the 36th floor of the Lotte Hotel in central Seoul.

RAS - WHAT CAN I DO? WOMEN AND THE LAW IN KOREA

Today: Join Sonia Strawn for a Royal Asiatic Society lecture about the legal rights of Korean women today and law-related issues, including women jurists and changes since the 1950s. A missionary in Seoul since the mid-1960s, Strawn was special assistant to Dr. Tai-Young Lee, a Korean pioneer for women’s rights, for 20 years, as well as cross-cultural English counselor at the Korea Legal Aid Center for Family Relations. The lecture will start at 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of Somerset Palace opposite the Japanese Embassy in central Seoul. Admission is free. For details, visit www.raskb.com.



KOTRA - MEDICAL SERVICES IN KOREA

Friday: This Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency sponsored workshop will provide practical tips for using medical services here. Foreign investors and employees are invited and encouraged to bring their families. Speakers will give an overview of the medical system and how to use it along with, medical technology and the best way to handle disputes.

There is no admission fee. The workshop will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the third floor of Invest Korea Plaza.

RAS - TRADITIONAL KOREAN

BREWERY AND SANJONG LAKE TOUR

Saturday: This tour offers visitors the chance to try making makgeolli, plum wine and black raspberry wine. The group will then walk to Sanjong Lake, a reservoir surrounded by picturesque peaks and old pines. The tour costs 69,000 won ($61) for members and 82,800 won for nonmembers. It departs from Yongsan Post Office, above Sinyongsan Station, line No. 4, exit 1, at 8:30 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m. For details, see www.raskb.com.



RAS - KOREAN WOMAN LIFE MUSEUM

Sunday: Spend the day at the Woman Life Museum at the birthplace of the last empress of Korea, Myeongseong. The exhibits include daily objects used by Korean women in the past. The tour costs 52,000 won for members and 62,400 won for nonmembers, and includes transportation, entry and a class on natural dyeing. The group will leave from the Yongsan Post Office, above Sinyongsan Station, line No. 4, exit 1 at 8:30 a.m. and return to Seoul at about 7:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.raskb.com.
