About 5,000 bicyclists wheeled out yesterday on an 18.5 kilometer (11.5 mile) stretch from Gwanghwamun, central Seoul, to Olympic Park in southeastern Seoul. It was the second Hi Seoul Bicycle Parade organized by the Seoul city government and the JoongAng Ilbo. The event was designed to encourage citizens to ride bicycles instead of using fossil fuel-consuming vehicles as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emission. By Oh Jong-taek
