Nigeria turns to Mikel for Korea friendly

LAGOS - Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel, who missed the World Cup with a knee injury, has been recalled to the Nigerian squad for the Aug. 11 friendly against Korea in Seoul.

Other foreign-based professionals scheduled to play in the match include goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama of Hapoel Tel Aviv, Osaze Odemwingie from Lokomotiv Moscow and Inter Milan forward Obinna Nsofor.

Twenty-two other players from the Nigeria league have been called up.

They include Bayelsa United goalkeeper Bassey Akpan, Lobi defender Terna Suswam and Enyimba midfielder Gabriel Reuben as well as Kano Pillars forward Ahmed Musa, who was the top scorer in the league last season with 18 goals.

Nigeria and Korea tied 2-2 in their 2010 World Cup Group B match in South Africa on June 22.
