Men’s team off to Iran for Asian championships

The men’s national volleyball team is set to depart for Iran today to participate in the Asian Volleyball Championships from Aug. 1 to 7. Korea has been grouped with Japan, Australia and Kazakhstan, while the defending champions Iran has been grouped with China, Taiwan and Indonesia.
At the inaugural tournament in 2008, Korea came up short against Iran. With some of its top players like Moon Sung-min, Park Chul-woo and Kim Yo-han missing from the lineup, Korea is not counted among the favorites this year.
